Cadillac unveiled its Formula 1 racing team’s logo and some visuals ahead of the Miami Grand Prix. Unlike Haas, GM and TWG Motorsports will build an all-American team, and they’ll be joining the grid in 2026. First, Caddy will go racing with Ferrari engines until its own power unit is ready in 2029. Then Cadillac will become an official engine supplier, hopefully proving that America can go toe-to-toe with the rest. No driver announcements were made, but early on in the process, it was revealed that one of the drivers would be American. The other driver will most likely be Sergio Perez, who has spent enough time in the sport to help set the Cadillac Formula 1 Team on the right path.
From next year, Formula 1 will be using all-new hybrid power units using 50% ICE and 50% electricity. This gives automakers a chance to connect their vehicles with both internal combustion and electric vehicles, like Cadillac’s upcoming Optiq V. We’re basically returning to the days of racing on Sunday and selling on Monday. Are you excited about Cadillac joining the pinnacle of motorsport, and would it make you more inclined to buy one of its products?
